The Fitchburg Historical Society's primary resource is its Research Library, an archive of photos, maps, paintings, books, and other artifacts from throughout the area's long, rich history. Many of these 200,000 artifacts are invaluable, including diaries and letters written by Civil War soldiers, and local newspapers from the mid-1800s and above. The Society lies downtown, a few blocks east of Crocker Field.
